Youth Tobacco Use Increased in 2018, Erasing a Long Previous Decline

Nearly 5 million middle and high school students used tobacco in 2018, which was an increase of more than a million users over the previous year.

This huge jump represents the single largest year increase in youth tobacco use ever recorded, the CDC has reported. Previously, teen tobacco use was on a steady decline for decades.
