Report Finds that TV Tobacco Imagery Persists and Makes Vaping Appealing to Young People

According to a new report from Truth Initiative, youth who see vaping and smoking imagery on TV are more likely to try e-cigarettes or other forms of tobacco.

It says that young media viewers with the highest exposure to TV tobacco depictions can be three times as likely to start vaping compared to those who don’t.

USA Today reported that “Netflix’s ‘Stranger Things,’ the ’80s period horror drama, recorded 721 tobacco-related incidents in last year’s Season 3, by far the most of any show included in the report.”
