Aurora Girl Scouts Spur Colorado’s First Car Smoking Ban

February 5th, 2018

With the help of Aurora City Councilman Charlie Richardson, Girl Scout Troop 789 successfully passed an ordinance that bans smoking in a car if anyone under the age of 18 is inside.

The girls drafted the ordinance in 2017. The ordinance’s passage means for those living in Aurora smoking in a car with someone under 18 is a secondary offense and comes with a fine of $150 or community service. It was the first measure of its kind to pass anywhere in Colorado.
