Governor, Students Urge Action to Stop Youth Vaping

December 20th, 2018

When it comes to youth vaping, Governor John Hickenlooper and Colorado kids agreed: Enough is enough. Colorado high school students are vaping at twice the national average and the most of all 37 states recently studied.

The governor, in partnership with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, took action in November 2018 to:

  1. Inform Coloradans about the prevalence of youth vaping in our state
  2. Share the dangers vape poses to youths, and
  3. Encourage parents to talk to their kids about the facts

The month began with the state issuing a statewide health advisory, along with a proclamation and executive order by the governor.

The month concluded with a pep rally at Denver South High School where the governor spoke with Colorado students about how they can help reverse the trend.
