Resources to Help You and Your Baby Thrive

Quitting tobacco is especially important during pregnancy; we have resources to help.

For many women, pregnancy is a powerful motivator to quit using tobacco.

But even with motivation, most people need help to quit. That’s because nicotine is one of the most addictive substances around.

Fortunately, there are free resources in your community to help you quit and stay quit after your pregnancy.

The Baby & Me Tobacco Free Program offers free personalized counseling for pregnant women, including 4 sessions during your pregnancy and up to 6 sessions after you have your baby. Program participants can receive up to $400 in electronic gift cards/diaper vouchers for quitting and staying tobacco free.

After the baby is born, a member of your household that also wants to quit smoking can enroll in the program and receive up to $300 in electronic gift cards/diaper vouchers for quitting and staying tobacco free.

The Baby & Me Tobacco Free Program is widely offered via telehealth, and is offered in-person at select public health agencies around Colorado.

Here's How the Program Works

  1. You are eligible to enroll if you are less than 37 weeks pregnant AND if you either: currently smoke and/or vape, smoked and/or vaped at any time during your pregnancy, or if you smoked and/or vaped in the three months before your pregnancy.
  2. Enroll by receiving a referral from your local health agency OR by referring yourself on the Baby & Me website by following these instructions:
  3. Click ‘Submit a Referral”
  4. Select ‘Click Here’ in the Colorado section
  5. Complete the referral form. You will hear from Camille from Baby & Me within 3 days by phone, text, or email.
  6. Women attend 4 counseling sessions during their pregnancy to help them quit for good. At each session, participants take a carbon monoxide (CO) monitor breath test or a saliva test to test for tobacco or vape use.
  7. Receive electronic gift cards/diaper vouchers during prenatal sessions 1 and 2 regardless of your quit status. To receive gift cards at sessions 3 and 4, you must test tobacco free.
  8. After birth, you are eligible to receive monthly counseling sessions for 6 months.  If you test tobacco-free, you are eligible to receive electronic gift cards/diaper vouchers for each session you attend.
  9. Vouchers can be used to purchase products at Walmart (restrictions include tobacco related products, alcohol, firearms).
  10. Tobacco users who live with pregnant women can also enroll. By successfully quitting tobacco, they can also receive gift cards after the baby is born.
